Lyric Poem

Lavender Tears

This piece was inspired by my favorite type of weather, rain. This poem is mainly about a boy and how I felt about him. It’s also about the storms that has been happening in Arizona. Lavender is typically used to help with pain but in this piece it’s used negatively. This was my favorite piece because it’s the poem that expressed my emotions to the greatest extent.

Flower fields flooded with rain-

Buckets full of lavender tears

Overflowing into a river

Dozing off until he appears-

My mind is left spinning-spinning,

Until it grows numb.

Dreading the empty person

That I have become.

He walks further away-

The thought of his absence feels insane.

My mind continues whirling

Like a dark puddle in the rain.
